Haley Haugen named the principal of Liberty Elementary School for the 2022-23 school year.

Haley Haugen has been named the principal of Liberty Elementary School for the 2022-23 school year.

Mrs. Haugen comes to her new role with over 13 years of experience in education.  She worked as a teacher for several years, including two years at Martin Luther and six years with Bismarck Public Schools at Miller, prior to embarking upon her administrative career. She was the principal at Prairie View Elementary in New Salem before returning to BPS to take on the role of building principal at Grimsrud, a position she has held since 2018.

When asked about her new position, Mrs. Haugen said, “I am both honored and humbled to be tasked with taking on the new opportunity of leading Liberty Elementary.  Grimsrud has been my home for the past 3 years and I will truly miss my Grizzly community: staff, students and families.  We have worked to build positive, lasting relationships that I will carry with me.  I’m excited to establish new relationships with the Liberty community and look forward to carrying on the amazing things they have happening there.”

Current Liberty Principal, Alivia Wamboldt, has been appointed the position of principal at Elk Ridge, which will open for the 2022-23 school year.  She said, “I’m committed to continuing to foster the growth and success of Liberty as we transition in our new principal, Mrs. Haugen. Mrs. Haugen brings a plethora of experiences and enthusiasm that supports our Liberty mission of empowering every learner to thrive.”

Liberty Elementary opened to students in 2014 and has the second largest enrollment out of the district’s 16 elementary schools.

BPS will begin the process of selecting a new principal for Grimsrud in the coming months, ensuring that the Grimsrud community receives the leader well suited to meet the needs of its community.
