Bismarck Parks & Rec survey now online (now through 3/26)

Bismarck Parks and Recreation District (BPRD) is one of our community partners. BPRD is conducting a Facilities Master Plan to assess the condition and uses of BPRD facilities, with a focus on the BSC Aquatic & Wellness Center, the Capital Racquet & Fitness Center, the VFW Sports Center and the Wachter Aquatic Complex.

All Bismarck citizens are invited and encouraged to participate in the next phase of the Facilities Master Plan by taking an online survey. The survey asks about recreational facility needs and priorities. The link to the survey can be found on BPRD’s website, through Tuesday, March 26. Residents wanting to complete a paper version of the survey can go to the BPRD administrative office, 400 E. Front Ave., to receive a copy. Office hours are Monday-Friday, 7:30 am-5 pm.

BPRD hosted focus groups, stakeholder meetings, staff meetings and a public input session in January to gather information. Approximately 3,000 surveys were also mailed out to a random sampling of Bismarck residents to provide statistically valid results. The responses from the online survey will be tallied separately from the statistically valid survey but will provide valuable feedback and will be included in the final report.

The results of all the information gathered will be used in BPRD’s 2020-2022 strategic planning process in April to determine the need for additional new facilities, facility renovations and facility additions desired by Bismarck residents, what funding sources may be available, identify potential partnerships and how best to support the recreation needs of the community.
