BPS Educator Named AVID Teacher Speaker for North Dakota

Lincoln Educator Alyssa Merriman Named North Dakota Teacher Speaker for AVID Summer Institute

Bismarck, ND – Fourth grade teacher Alyssa Merriman has been named the first-ever AVID Summer Institute Teacher Speaker for the state of North Dakota.

Ms. Merriman will be sharing her educational philosophy and AVID story to thousands of educators across the country at the AVID Summer Institute in Minneapolis. She will represent Lincoln Elementary School and Bismarck Public Schools at the conference, and will present alongside three student speakers from around the country. Tana Sukauskas, AVID District Director, stated that “Ms. Merriman’s classroom is a place where relationships and engaging lessons are built and honored, and she is looking forward to sharing her passion and love for teaching with a greater audience.” 

AVID is a national program designed to provide scaffolded support that educators and students need to encourage college and career readiness and success.  The Minneapolis AVID Summer Institute is a three-day event where educators from across the country will engage in networking and professional learning.
