Cell Phones

Yes. Students with formally approved medical accommodations (such as diabetic glucose monitoring) may be allowed device access as part of:

• A 504 Plan

• An IEP (Individualized Education Plan)

Please consult with a school counselor or administrator to discuss and initiate any formal requests. Only formally approved accommodations will be honored.

Phones may be brought to school but must be out of sight and inaccessible during the school day.

• Elementary School: Phones will be stored in backpacks or lockers.
• Middle School: Phones will be stored in lockers or checked in at Homebase.
• High School: Phones must be turned off and securely stowed (e.g., in a backpack or locker).

We strongly recommend that students do not bring a phone if it will be a persistent distraction. 

In emergencies, staff will exercise reasonable flexibility regarding phone usage and prioritize student safety. 

• In emergency situations, our priority is ensuring an appropriate and effective response. Additionally, we are committed to providing accurate, official updates as promptly as possible through our official channels (district website, emails/texts/calls to parents, and social media.

Consequences for phone or device violations will be listed in the student handbook. Violations will lead to:

• Disciplinary action (consequences may be found in student handbooks)
   
• Repeated infractions may impact test exemptions 

There will be disciplinary repercussions for both cell phone policy violations and any insubordination or other behavioral infractions associated with the phone use incidents. 

Yes. The law and district policy apply only during instructional hours ("bell to bell").

Phones may be used:

• On school/activity buses
• At before and after school activities, such as games, concerts, dances, and club events

No. Smartwatches with connectivity (i.e., capable of texting, calling, or internet use) are not allowed during the school day under the new law. 

• Exceptions may be allowed as part of a formally approved 504 plan for medical purposes
