BPS COVID-19 Instructional Delivery Level
Bismarck Public Schools will reference the North Dakota Color-Coded system to gauge a general understanding of North Dakota’s Risk Level based on color (highest being red and lowest being blue). The District COVID Team will make recommendations to the Superintendent as to the Instructional Models used for each BPS building. The Superintendent will make the final decision and ensure the BPS Board is informed of the individual status of BPS Building Instructional Models. Note that a move of the entire BPS district to a different level requires School Board action. The students enrolled and participating in the On-line Distance Learning Model will not be subject to the Instructional Models determined for BPS Schools.
Our district will make a determination on our instructional model and report it out as a level (1-5). Detailed information on this is found in the Decision Making Guidance document.

Hybrid/Distance Learning Meal Information
Meal Information:
- In school meals: Students will be offered breakfast and lunch while they are attending school face to face. Please refer to this Bismarck Public Schools Mealviewer site to access menus.
- Hybrid meals: Meals will be offered to students for days that they are not in school face to face. Meals will be distributed at the end of the day. If you have a student that leaves early, please work with the secretary of your school.
- Elementary Parents: If you are an ELEMENTARY parent you DO NOT need to complete the online form. Starting September 14th teachers will ask your child if they would like a meal sent home with them. Please talk with your child about raising their hand in class when they are asked if they want a meal for the next day.
- Secondary Parents: If you are a SECONDARY parent with a hybrid student, please fill out this online form as lunch counts are not taken at the secondary level. This form only needs to be completed for secondary students if you wish to have meals on days your student is not in their school building. You will have the opportunity to make your selection when you add this item to your cart. All meals will be free until December 31, 2020, or until federal funding runs out. Breakfast and lunch meals will be included with meals sent home.
- Distance Learning Students: Please complete this online form for distance learning meals. These meal kits will contain up to 5 breakfasts and 5 lunches. On shortened school weeks, the meal kit will contain the amount of meals for days that students are considered in school. Meals can be picked up from the one of the three high schools between 11am – 1pm in the cafeteria. Starting September 18th, middle schools will also offer a pick up location from 11am-1pm in the cafeteria. Click here to view the distance learning menu
- Cut off day to order hybrid and distance learning meals is Thursdays at 11:59 PM. Orders are being places for the following week.
- All menus are subject to change based on staff and food availability.
- All meals are free to BPS registered students through December 31, 2020 or until federal funding runs out.
- Adult meals are not free. Adults may order meal kits by pre-ordering online.
- Click here for meal storage and heating instructions
- Free meals are only temporary so please fill out a free and reduced application if you need assistance.

Hybrid (A/B) Schedules
Please click the links below for the A/B Hybrid Calendars for BPS.
NOTE: in PreK, BECEP’s Level 3 permits face-to-face due to smaller class sizes.
- When students are not in school on their “off” days, they will be in online blended/distance learning. More information will be sent regarding what those schedules look like.
-
As with face-to-face, masks in Hybrid learning are required at school when 6-foot social distancing cannot be maintained. Attendance will be taken on both face-to-face and Hybrid days.

Internet Access
Internet Access: Plans for face-to-face, hybrid and distance learning will be dependent on connectivity to the internet. For maximum flexibility, home internet access will be important. If you do not have reliable internet service (one capable of supporting your child(ren) in video connectivity to their teachers) the following providers offer a variety of plans.
- BEK Communications
- https://bek.coop
- Phone: 888-475-2361
- Email: bekcomm@bektel.com
- Midco
- https://www.midco.com
- Phone: 800-888-1300
- Please see this link (https://bit.ly/midcointernet) for more information about the Midco Lifeline programming and internet basics packages from Midco.
- As an additional measure BPS has enabled drive-up (Park and Learn) Internet access near all school district buildings. Our network names are “BPS-Student” on a Chromebook or “BPS-Guest”.
- If you are having difficulty securing home internet, contact the BPS Technical Support for assistance.

Cyber Security Awareness
Cyber Security Awareness: It is essential to consider cybersecurity and data privacy to minimize risks to students and educators. We must be aware of misinformation through unsafe links and tricks asking for login credentials, credit card information, and other personal details. Educators and technology staff will never ask for your login credentials via e-mail or threaten to turn off access to school accounts. No purchasing information such as your credit card number will ever be needed. If you are suspicious of the validity of any message you receive please call your school to verify.
