ND Academic Scholarship/ CTE Scholarship
The North Dakota state legislature passed legislation establishing two scholarship programs. Any resident student who graduates from high school and meets the criteria is eligible to apply for a North Dakota Academic Scholarship or a North Dakota Career and Technical Education Scholarship in the amount of $750 per semester, or $500 per quarter, for a total annual payment of $1500.
Eligibility for initial and subsequent disbursements are based on full-time* enrollment at an accredited higher education institution in North Dakota (both public and private), maintenance of a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale, and progression toward degree completion**. Eligibility criteria is reviewed each semester. Students may be eligible for up to $6,000 within six academic school years (do not have to be consecutive) after graduation for undergraduate and/or graduate courses.
*For purposes of North Dakota scholarship eligibility under this section, "full-time" has the same meaning as the term is defined by the institution the student is attending.
**For the purpose of North Dakota scholarship eligibility under this section, "progress toward degree completion" means earning the following minimum number of credits after each semester or quarter term disbursement to qualify for the subsequent disbursement:
(1) Twenty-four credits after disbursement two;
(2) Thirty-nine credits after disbursement three;
(3) Fifty-four credits after disbursement four;
(4) Sixty-nine credits after disbursement five;
(5) Eighty-four credits after disbursement six; and
(6) Ninety-nine credits after disbursement seven.

The Rose Stoller Legacy Scholarship
The Rose Stoller Legacy Scholarship was established in 2020 as a tribute to a Bismarck Public School alumna. A $1000 scholarship will be given annually to a BHS graduating senior who is pursuing a degree in social work or the field of mental health.
Rose Stoller was born in Bismarck and lived there until her death in 2019. She completed all her schooling in Bismarck, attending Richholt Elementary, Simle Junior High and Bismarck High School, graduating in 1976. She went on to attend what was then Mary College, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work.
Throughout her life Rose worked at professions meant to serve the needs and improve the lives of others. She was employed as a claims analyst for Social Security Disability, as a counselor/advocate for the developmentally disabled at West Central Human Service Center, as the Executive Director of the Mental Health Association in North Dakota and as the Executive Director of the Consensus Council.
Rose loved life and was devoted to making the world a better place, especially for those who were disadvantaged in any way. At the time of Rose’s death in November 2019, she was described as: “A woman who cared deeply for others, worked passionately for the causes she believed in, strived every day to make life better for those around her.”
Throughout her life, Rose was generous with her time, mentoring many individuals, teaching and freely sharing her skills and knowledge. She believed strongly in the benefits of education and would be so pleased that this scholarship will assist others in the pursuit of goals similar to hers, one of the greatest being peace.
