*Carpentry

Rapidly growing cities of North Dakota have created a strong demand for qualified carpenters in many areas of the construction business. As a result, the future for good carpenters will always be bright. Students completing carpentry have several options.

Carpentry Interior

Grade Placement: 10, 11, 12 Full year
1 credit/semester 2 periods/day
(10th grade enrollment is based on space available)
The Students will design / draw plans for the home to be built during the school year. The student will receive valuable carpentry experience by building a variety of oak cabinets and installing them in the house project. Students will also learn how to cut, assemble, install, and finish all interior woodwork and counter tops in a typical house.

Framing Carpentry

Grade Placement: 10, 11, 12 Full year
1 credit/semester 2 periods / day
(10th grade enrollment is based on space available)
Students in this class participate in the actual construction of a house. Students will get valuable hands-on experience in floor, wall, roof framing, sheathing, insulating, sheet rocking, siding, metal soffit system, shingling, window, and exterior door installation. Proper safety methods and appropriate use of carpentry are stressed throughout the course.
