Snuggle Up With A Good Book!
It is the mid-point in our school year and the students and teachers have been working hard. We have seen the growth in our reading students. Now is the time to really be reading at home with your child so they may practice those skills. When the weather outside is cold, there is nothing better than cuddling up with a good book. Take the time to read with your child every day. Make reading a part of their routine and you will see great results.

A Love of Reading

"The more you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go."

- Dr. Seuss, "I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!"

Our Schedule at a Glance

(We will work as closely as possible with the teachers to reinforce grade level standards.)

Monday - Instruction on grade level standards: Letters/Sounds, Decoding, Irregular spelled words, Comprehension (Main Idea, Cause & Effect, Inferences, Themes, etc.).
Tuesday - Reading fluency practice: Repeated reading, Sight word phrases, nonsense words, etc.
Wednesday - Progress Monitoring of Reading Standards. Each student will work on individually reading activities as the teacher conferences with students.
Thursday - Reading fluency practice: Novels, Short Stories, Reader's Theater, Sentence Strips, etc.
Friday - Instruction on grade level standards: Rhyming, Sight words, Blending Prefix/suffix Multi-syllable words, etc.

Remember this is only a glance at what your child will work on. We will occasionally do special projects and other activities. We may also go into the classrooms and work with not only your child, but also the entire class on a reading project.
