Who is Eligible?
Families or youth who lack a permanent, regular, adequate, fixed place to sleep. The families or youth could be living:
- With relatives or friends (including grandparents)
- In an emergency shelter or transitional shelter
- In a motel, hotel, RV park or campground
- Awaiting foster care
- In cars, parks, abandoned buildings or bus/train stations
What Can SIT Do For You? The Students In Transition Program "SIT" works with students and/or their family to eliminate the barriers to education, attendance and success. SIT provides the following:
- A Liaison to support the family through the registration process until the end of the school year.
- Immediate school enrollment
- Assistance in gathering pertinent documents i.e. birth certificate, immunization records, etc.
- School fees
- Free lunch program
- Connection to Tutoring
- School supplies
- Information/help with transportation
- Clothes for school
- After school programs
- Referrals to numerous community resources
