About the Human Resources Office

The Human Resources Office provides leadership and specialized knowledge in human resources management to help the district maximize its effectiveness as an employer, and to help employees maximize their effectiveness for the district, in order to attain the mission of providing educational opportunities which challenge all students to reach their potential.

edZapp - Online Application, Teaching Jobs and Positions (link)

The Bismarck Public School District uses an online application process for all teaching, professional support staff and administrative positions. The district also uses the online application for some support staff positions. Applicants must complete the online application to be considered for all job openings with BPS. Applicants will be considered once their online application has been completed.

Employment Statistics

The Bismarck Public Schools has over 1,800 full-time, part-time and seasonal staff. For the 2008-09 school year there are 870 teachers, 735 support staff, 68 professional support staff, and 46 central office and building administrators.

Each year we receive over 700 applications for teaching positions for an average of 60 job openings for teaching positions. The teacher salary ranges from $32,800 for first year teachers with a bachelor's degree to $67,133 for teachers with a Masters+60/EDD and 25 years of experience. Teachers, administrators, professional support staff and full-time support staff employees receive a comprehensive benefits package with medical, dental, vision and life insurance along with retirement benefit and paid time off.

Members of the education profession each have their own set of highly complex set of practices. To promote excellence in education, the Bismarck Public School District gathered a committee of 15 individuals to design the Bismarck Public Schools Professional Excellence Frameworks, which was designed, using Frameworks for Teaching and Teacher Evaluation by Charlotte Danielson.
