The Human Resources Office provides leadership and specialized knowledge in human resources management to help the district maximize its effectiveness as an employer, and to help employees maximize their effectiveness for the district, in order to attain the vision that all students will graduate an be prepared for post-secondary education and the workplace.

The Bismarck Public School District uses an online application process. All external applicants must complete the online application to be considered for all job openings with BPS.
The link for the internal application is found in the upper right corner at the TalentEd Recruit & Hire site. Current BPS employees can complete the internal application to apply for positions in the same category as their current job (i.e., current contracted teachers applying for a different teaching position, support staff employees applying for a different support staff position, etc.). Temporary employees and substitutes, both regular and long term, are NOT considered internal applicants and should complete the external application to apply for posted positions.

The Bismarck Public Schools has over 1,800 full-time, part-time and seasonal staff. For the 2013-14 school year there are 948 teachers, 82 professional support staff, 44 central office and building administrators and about 780 support staff.
As a growing school district we provide a wide variety of employment opportunities. The school district is a great place to work for individuals who want to make a positive impact with the youth in our community.
For the 2013-14 school year the district hired 75 teachers, three new principals, and numerous support staff. The 2013-14 teacher salary ranges from $40,170 for first year teachers with a bachelor's degree to $77,435 for teachers with a Masters+60/EDD and 25 years of experience. In 2014-15 the begining salary will be $42,605 and the top salary will be $79,435. Teachers, administrators, professional support staff and full-time support staff employees receive a comprehensive benefits package with medical, dental, vision and life insurance along with retirement benefit and paid time off. The district will begin to hire administrators and teachers for the 2014-15 school year in February. We hire support staff employees throughout the year.

Members of the education profession each have their own set of highly complex set of practices. To promote excellence in education, the Bismarck Public School District gathered a committee of 15 individuals to design the Bismarck Public Schools Professional Excellence Frameworks, which was designed, using Frameworks for Teaching and Teacher Evaluation by Charlotte Danielson.
