Comprehensive Evaluation Phase

Level of Performance - Rating Sheets

Formal observations and evaluation of performance based on the following items:


Step 1 - Self Assessment

Every third year each Library Media Specialist with more than three years of experience will participate in a comprehensive evaluation. Each Library Media Specialist initiates this phase by completing the Professional LMS Self-Assessment (A1).


Step 2 - Identification

The Library Media Specialist will review the Professional Self-Assessment with his/her supervisor. Using the Framework Identification Form (A2), the Library Media Specialist and supervisor will determine the components to be assessed. The Library Media Specialist will identify three components and the supervisor will identify two. They will also determine the methods of assessment, which will include a formal classroom observation.

Prior to the formal classroom observation, the Library Media Specialist and his/her supervisor will meet and complete the Pre-Observation Form(A3).


Step 4 - Observation


Performance Review (A4) (doc document)

While completing the library observation, the supervisor will complete the Level of Performance - Rating Sheets (A6). After completing the observation, the supervisor will complete the Performance Review (A4). In preparing the Performance Review, the supervisor should consider factors considered on the Framework Identification Form (A2) as well as the Pre-Observation Form. Other items or artifacts should also be included.

Plan III - Improvement/Intervention Phase

Who:
  • Library Media Specialist in need of specific professional guidance in identified areas of professional Library Media Specialist practices.
Purpose:
  • To enable a Library Media Specialist with four or more years of experience the opportunity to seek assistance.
  • To provide a structured process for an experienced Library Media Specialist who may benefit from more support.
  • To provide due process for disciplinary action.
What:
  • Three phases
  1. Awareness Phase
  2. Assistance Phase
  3. Disciplinary Phase (if necessary)
What:
  • Develop specific action plan with time frames.
  • Observation and feedback focused on identified ares(s) of needed improvement.
