CHS Grading Policy

Grading Scale
100-92 A
91-83 B
82-74 C
73-65 D
65-below F

Grading in Century Orchestra classes will be done on the ‘total points' basis and a letter grade will be assigned from the grading scale above.

Daily Participation:
Students will earn 27 points per week for their attentive participation in orchestra class. There will be 9 categories worth 3 points each and 9 weeks per quarter for a total of 243 points per quarter. Attached to this policy, you can find the rubric for Participation Points.

Concert Participation
Students will earn 100 points for each scheduled orchestra performance. Students will have the opportunity to evaluate themselves along with the teacher evaluation. Attached to this policy, you can find the evaluation to be used by both student and teacher.

Concert Reports
Each student is expected to attend one instrumental concert per quarter that is college level or above and critique their performance. Students will be allowed to 'bank' concert reviews for future quarters. Each Concert Report will be worth a total of 20 points. Attached to this policy, you can find the critique form that will be used.

Each student is recommended to practice 90-120 minutes a week during the school year.

Each student will audition for seating placement in the orchestra. More information along with the ruberics used can be found under the Audition tab.

Tests and Daily Assignments
Students will be given periodic written assignments and tests during the course of the year. Points will be earned as assigned by the teacher
