Class of 1977

Todd Clausnitzer, a 1977 graduate of Bismarck High School, rapidly began his ascent into the world of art, design and business. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of North Dakota with a minor in medicine. In 1983, Clausnitzer met the equivalence for the Association of Medical Illustrator's M.A. degree in Medical Illustrations, thus achieving active-member status with the Association of Medical Illustrators. He founded Visual Medical Communications, illustrating medical textbooks and other media for a far-reaching clientele of advertisers and publishers in Norway, Sweden and New York. Clausnitzer also holds several patents on an ergonomic chair design.
Clausnitzer's fine art, particularly his wildlife art, has also earned national acclaim. He won the North Dakota Furbearer Stamp and has placed highly in many prestigious Federal Duck Stamp competitions. The Bradford Exchange chose Clausnitzer as the artist for several collectible plate series, one of which was a four-plate series to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of Earth Day. Visa also chose him as the artist for the gold and platinum cards commemorating the 100th anniversary of the National Zoo in Washington, DC. In 1996, Clausnitzer was chosen by the Boy Scout National Council of America for their Print of the Year. His works are included in the University of Minnesota's Permanent Art Gallery and in the permanent collections of such celebrities as Ted Turner, Kevin Costner, Burt Reynolds, Angie Dickinson, Ted Nugent and Billy Graham.
In 1994, Clausnitzer and partners established Image Printing, Inc. which quickly grew into one of the region's premier printing companies. Under his creative leadership, the company has received over 350 design awards for design in print, magazine and newspaper, including two prestigious "Benny" awards through the World Premier Print Awards, and two gold awards for design at the World Newspaper Association. In 2007, Clausnitzer was featured in Business Week magazine.
Todd Clausnitzer is a lifelong resident of Bismarck and an active member of the community. He and his wife, Cynthia, have three children, Christian, Samuel and Callie.
