JEFF FOWLER
Class of 1974


Jeff Fowler was raised in Bismarck, North Dakota, attended Saxvik Elementary School, Simle Junior High School, and graduated from Bismarck High School, class of 1974.
Vice Admiral Fowler is currently the 60th Superintendent of the United States Naval Academy. A warfare qualified submariner, he commanded the USS Charlotte (SSN 766) and Submarine Squadron THREE, both in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Following selection to Flag Officer, he served as Commander, Navy Recruiting Command in Millington, Tennessee, and Director, Naval Europe/SIXTH Fleet Plans and Operations; Deputy Commander, SIXTH Fleet; Commander Submarines, Allied Forces SOUTH; Commander, Submarine Group EIGHT; and Commander, Task Forces 164/169 in Naples, Italy. In addition to earning a Bachelor of Science Degree from the Naval Academy with distinction, Vice Admiral Fowler's education includes Master's Degrees in Business Administration from Chaminade University of Honolulu and in Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. He is a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
He is married to the former Katie Blackburn of Virginia Beach, Virginia. They have two daughters and one son.
