How to Register at the ALC

Students come into the ALC in two different ways:

1. Returning students call the ALC Administrative Assistant at (701) 323-4530 to schedule for paperwork, TABE testing, and an intake appointment with the coordinator.

2. New students come into the center by attending a registration/orientation session which is about 2.5 hours long. Please stop in to the ALC office and set up an appointment for registration and orientation. Please bring a current government issued photo ID and your original Social Security Card to this initial appointment.

After the registration/orientation session is completed, new students schedule an appointment for and attend a TABE testing session (3 hours long). After the TABE test is completed, students sign up for an individual Intake appointment with the coordinator to review their TABE scores, get questions answered, get a start date for classes, and complete paperwork.

Please plan to arrive at registration/orientation and TABE testing early and stay the entire length of the time. Space is limited in registration/orientation sessions and students must have an appointment to complete this step. Those coming late may not be allowed to enter the session once has begun. In that case, the student would have to come to the next session.

Please call the ALC at (701) 323-4530 to learn the next available registration/orientation session.

Intake

Upon completion of the entire TABE test, students will choose an appointment time for intake with the coordinator. This appointment is usually a day or two after the student has completed the TABE test.

The intake appointment is usually about 25 minutes long and it is important to be on time. The intake serves to review the results of the TABE test, answer individual questions, set goals, select a class schedule, and set a date to start classes.

Once a schedule has been selected, students can start class if there are openings in that particular class. If the classes are full for the time slot the student would like, the student can either wait on a waiting list or attend at another time until the preferred time schedule is available.

Class Schedules

Students may choose from a variety of schedules as follows:

Monday through Friday mornings: 8:45-11:30 A.M.
Monday through Thursday afternoons: 12:15-3:00 P.M.
Tuesday and Thursday evenings: 5:30-8:15 P.M.
Online GED 24 hours per day 7 days per week

All classes are taught using an individualized approach in a classroom setting, with each student having his or her own educational plan/goals and with each student moving at his or her own rate.
